|詳細||In recent decades Aluminium has become the most important metal for automobile applications and in light weight design in competition with high strength steels is the clear the winner as the best suited material. New alloy variants and processing routes have been developed, so Aluminium automobile applications became the fastest growing market worldwide.
The success story of Aluminium is illustrated by the historic development, the important results of major European projects (like the “Super-Light-Car” project) and recent research and development activities in new Aluminium alloy variants. These are new non heat-treatable 5xxx and new age hardening 6xxx and 7xxx alloy variants, including alloy combinations, and new and advanced processes like hot-forming (including “press hardening”) or additive manufacturing. These innovations and many economic and ecological aspects of this important metal are outlined and discussed, which all confirm the recent success and great future of Aluminium in modern light-weight car design.
Due to their improved properties, like strength and formability, corrosion resistance, surface appearance and improved processing aspects these innovations are well suited for automotive applications in body-in-white, chassis and structural parts and engine parts in innovative light-weight car design worldwide.
